Soccer player Chris Romeo named November Sports Star

18th January 2010

Chris Romeo has been selected in the Australian Football Skool’s (AFS) Under 19 squad. Early this year (2010), Chris and the Australian Squad will travel to London for training with elite coaches, players from Arsenal and Fulham Football Club and then travel onto Barcelona to play in the International Youth Tournament.

Chris was a late starter to soccer, preferring at a younger age to play Australian Rules Football for Irymple Football Club and then switching to tennis with Red Cliffs and Mildura, becoming a member of the Mildura squad. Chris represented Mildura in tennis at regional tournaments. At 14 years of age Chris moved from tennis to play soccer with 3 Colours. During his second season he was playing as a junior off the senior’s bench. Chris then transferred to Irymple Knights Soccer Club.

Chris has been playing and training for 12 months with the AFS, a program dedicated to developing and training gifted players. Chris was one of 20 out of 120 to make the final Australian squad.
